Bishop Richard J. Malone has announced two clergy appointments. Father James W. Fliss received a fourth term of six years as pastor of St. Anthony Parish, Farnham, and Father Johnson Machado was named administrator of St. John Neumann Parish, Strykersville.
Father Fliss, a graduate of St. Mary's College and SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, both in Orchard Lake, Mich., was pastor at St. Agatha Parish, Buffalo, from 1995-1999, before moving to St. Anthony Parish in 1999.
His earlier assignments were as parochial vicar at St. Hyacinth, Dunkirk; St. Paul, Kenmore; St. Rose of Lima, Buffalo; Queen of Martyrs, Cheektowaga; and St. John the Baptist, Kenmore. Father Fliss is a member of the Knights of Columbus and has served as a police chaplain.
Father Machado, who recently came to the Diocese of Buffalo, is a diocesan priest from India. Bishop Malone named him administrator at St. John Neumann Parish for a term of five years.
