Diocesan priests receive new assignments

Among Bishop Richard J. Malone's recent appointments are a new pastor at St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Akron, and an administrator for Our Lady of Charity Parish in South Buffalo. 

Father David. D. Baker, a native of Clarence, was named pastor at St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Akron, for a term of six years.  The former pastor, Msgr. Robert J. Williamson, retired in October 2015.  Father Baker, who was ordained in 2007, has previously served as parochial vicar at St. Amelia, Tonawanda; Our Lady of Victory Basilica, Lackawanna; and Queen of Heaven Parish, West Seneca. 

Father Raymond G. Corbin was reappointed to a second term of six years as pastor of Infant of Prague Parish, Cheektowaga.  Ordained in 2004, Father Corbin was parochial vicar at St. Mary of the Assumption, Lancaster, prior to being named pastor at Infant of Prague in 2009.

Msgr. Peter J. Popadick was reappointed pastor of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish, Cheektowaga, for a fourth term of six years.  Prior to becoming pastor at St. Aloysius in 1997, Msgr. Popadick was secretary to Bishop Edward D. Head for more than 20 years.

Father Bryan J. Zielenieski was appointed administrator of Our Lady of Charity Parish, Buffalo, for a term of six years.  Msgr. David M. Lee, the former pastor, retired in August 2015.  Father Zielenieski was ordained in 2014 and had served as parochial vicar at St. Christopher Parish, Tonawanda, until his appointment at Our Lady of Charity. 

Father Mariusz Dymek, OSSPE, was given the additional responsibility of vicar forane for the Southeast Buffalo Vicariate for a term of three years.  Born, raised and ordained in Poland, Father Dymek first served as administrator of Corpus Christi Parish, Buffalo, when he arrived in Western New York, and later was named pastor at St. Stanislaus Parish, Buffalo, a position in which he still serves. 

Father George Belgarde, SJ, was named parochial vicar at St. Michael Parish, Buffalo. 

Father Suresh Yamarthy, a native of India, was named parochial vicar at St. Mark and St. Rose of Lima parishes in North Buffalo.  His appointment is for a term of three years.  This is Father Yarmarthy's first time in the United States.
