KENMORE — Mount St. Mary Academy will present "Summer Sessions 2016" for girls entering grades five to eight. The program, running Aug. 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school, will include a combination of athletic, arts and educational sessions.
The camp offers two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions during which students participate in classes geared toward hands-on learning and active play. The weeklong event allows campers to mingle with other girls their own age in a fun learning environment.
Morning classes include Funology scientific crafts, Red Carpet Reporting, Bound for Broadway Dance, Let Them Eat Cake baking, Upcycling Crafts and more. In the afternoon, participants may choose Olympic-style games, wearable art crafts, singing, costume design, screenwriting, digital photography and more.
The camp costs $195 per child and includes a T-shirt and all necessary supplies and materials for each of the sessions.
Additional athletic camps will be held throughout July. Lacrosse Camp, from July 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at Philip Sheridan Field in Kenmore, will give assistance and skill development to students. The camp will be run by Mount St. Mary Thunder Coach Jennifer Grimm with the assistance of her team, defending league champs.
Campers of any skill level are welcome and will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game. Campers will work to strengthen individual skills. The registration fee of $80 includes a camp T-shirt.
Running Camp will take place July 18-22 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the school. The camp will be run by Mount St. Mary Thunder alumna and champion distance runner Emma Sullivan with the assistance of the Thunder cross country team. Campers will be introduced to strategies for distance running. Registration fee of $80 includes a camp T-shirt.
Volleyball Camp, July 18-22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the school, will give assistance and skill development. The camp will be run run by Mount St. Mary Thunder Coach Brittany Dodge Schukraft with the assistance of current players.

Basketball Camp will take place July 25-27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. The program will offer assistance and skill development. The camp will be run by Mount St. Mary Thunder Coach Mike McCarthy with assistance of current players.
Campers will participate daily in fundamentals, footwork routines, agility drills and skills development. The camp will include daily competitions for both teams and individuals. The registration fee of $80 includes a camp T-shirt.
Softball Camp takes place July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Northtown Center in Amherst. The camp will be run by Mount St. Mary Thunder Coach Caroline Polino Kos with the assistance of current players. Campers will participate daily in fundamentals and skills development. Players of all experience levels are welcome. The registration fee of $80 includes a camp T-shirt.
Mount St. Mary will also offer Theater Camp July 25-29 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school. The camp, taught by Second Generation Theater co-founder and the school's theater/dance teacher, Kelly Copps, will offer an opportunity to learn about theater and build acting skills to help campers shine in the spotlight. Campers will participate in singing, dancing and acting activities, as well as meet with other area professional performers. The registration fee of $125 includes a camp T-shirt.
