HOUGHTON - Western New York Women of Worship, a one-day event designed to uplift, restore and motivate the spirits of women, returns to Houghton College on Saturday, April 21.
This year, Women of Worship is pleased to welcome keynote speaker Lysa TerKeurst, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries, New York Times bestselling author, and a leading voice in the Christian community. She and her staff at Proverbs 31 - one of the foremost non-denominational, nonprofit, online Christian ministries - offer Bible studies and other resources to aid women on their faith journeys. TerKeurst is also the author of "Made to Crave," "Unglued," "The Best Yes" and "Uninvited," and has received the Champions of Faith Author Award.
Joining her are additional speakers, including MC Therese Main, who serves as Family Life Network's assistant program director and music director. Doris Griffin, ordained elder and co-pastor alongside her husband at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Wilmington, Del., will also join the Women of Worship lineup, as well as Kim Holet, director of women's ministry at The Chapel in Buffalo.
The event will come to a close with an evening concert from The Late Show's Gospel Choir. Formed in 1995, the choir has performed on CBS's "The Late Show" more than a dozen times. Members of the choir have provided backup vocals for many performers, including Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias and Shawn Mendes. Men are welcome and encouraged to attend the performance.
Women from across the region and country gathered to attend last year's event, travelling from as far as Maryland, Georgia and even Ontario, Canada to experience seminars, keynote speakers and Grammy Award-winning artist Laura Story.
Tickets range from $12 for concert-only general seating, $65 for full-day access, and $125 for a VIP experience. Group rates are also available.
