Bishop Richard J. Malone announced that, effective June 1, Father Mark J. Noonan, will assume the duties of vicar general and moderator of the curia. Msgr. David S. Slubecky, who has held the office since 2005, will retire June 1.
Father Noonan, who was ordained on Dec. 1, 2007 by Bishop Edward U. Kmiec, is a graduate of St. Joseph Collegiate Institute, Kenmore, and the State University of New York at Buffalo where he earned bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy. He earned his bachelor's degree in sacred theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, Italy, and a master's degree in pastoral ministry from Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora.
Father Noonan served as parochial vicar at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Orchard Park, and St. Amelia Parish, Tonawanda. In 2010, he was named pastor of St. Mark Parish, Kendall, and St. Mary Parish, Holley.
As vicar general and moderator of the curia, Father Noonan will serve as the chief operating officer of the diocese. He will oversee Bishop Malone's diocesan management team. Father Noonan will begin working with Msgr. Slubecky on May 1.
In addition, Bishop Malone appointed Father Dawid T. Krzeszowski administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish, Eden, and Holy Spirit Parish, North Collins, for a term of six years, effective May 1. Father Krzeszowski, a priest from the Diocese of Rzeszow, Poland, began working in the Diocese of Buffalo in 2012 when he was named parochial vicar at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Orchard Park. In 2013, he was assigned to St. John the Baptist, Kenmore, and served there until taking his new position.
Father Alfons M. Osiander, Th.D., was reappointed to a third term of six years as pastor of St. Jude Parish, Sardinia. He first came to the parish in 1998 when he served as administrator. He was named pastor in 2006. His previous assignments have been at St. John the Baptist, West Valley; Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora; St. Agatha, Buffalo; and Immaculate Conception, East Aurora.
