Loss, Lonliness, Grief - St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans of many comforting words. During times of loss, loneliness and grief, we may not feel or recognize God's presence in our lives. Though we can't imagine all the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing right now, we do understand a bit about grieving and that, first of all, it is a process. The Office of Family Life Ministries has a free bereavement packet of materials designed to provide support, especially during the initial stages of grief. For a bereavement packet, call 716-847-2210 or email familylife@buffalodiocese.org.
USCCB-Word of Life: Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.
USCCB-Palabra de Vida: La vida humana debe ser respetada y protegida de manera absoluta desde el momento de la concepción.
Marriage Moment. "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Mt. 22:39) This often quoted phrase can be deceiving. It depends on an honest love of self and then transferring that attitude to your neighbor - and of course your closest neighbor is spouse. Don't put yourself down today.
Parenting Perspective. April is child abuse prevention month. If you haven't already, alert your children that they should tell you when anyone touches them inappropriately. Sexual abuse by those in positions of authority is tragic, even more so when perpetrated by clergy who hold positions of trust. Victims deserve the Church's ongoing support, apology, and reparation. Clergy of integrity, however, also suffer because of the sins of their colleagues. Let those ministers, priests or religious who has served you well know of your support.
