Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive, family-focused intervention, serving families with delinquent youth ages 12-17 who exhibit negative behaviors including noncompliance, verbal and/or physical aggression and truancy. Families are empowered to solve the youth's own behavior and interventions are research-based. Lucy needed help getting her daughter to focus and become more organized in school. With the help of MST, Lucy said her daughter has "gone nowhere but up." For more information, call 716-204-0555 or go to http://www.ccwny.org for a location nearest you.

Marriage Moment. Leave your spouse a sweet note. You'll be amazed at the power of the pen. If you head out of the house first, leave it on their car. Or, hide a note where you know they'll find it. A friend of mine used the letters from a Scrabble game to create a surprise note for his wife.

Parenting Perspective. For many people summer is a good time to do recreational reading. What was your favorite book as a child? If your child is old enough, you've probably already read it together. Talk about why it was your favorite.

Bereavement Packet. St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans of many comforting words. During times of loss, loneliness and grief, we may not feel or recognize God's presence in our lives. Though we can't imagine all the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing right now, we do understand a bit about grieving and that, first of all, it is a process. The Office of Family Life Ministries has a free bereavement packet of materials designed to provide support, especially during the initial stages of grief. For a bereavement packet, please call 716-847-2210 or email familylife@buffalo.org.

Journey Into Love. The Office of Family Life Ministries is looking for married couples to assist with the monthly diocesan marriage preparation program, Journey Into Love. Married couples help by giving a 20 minute talk once or twice a year on essential topics and issues that engaged and newly married couples face. Married couples that support this ministry find it beneficial to their own marriage and their efforts contribute to the strengthening of family life as couples prepare for their marriage. If you are interested in finding out more about this very successful diocesan marriage program, please call the Family Life Office at 716-847-2210.

USCCB-Word of Life: It's scary and it knocks the breath out of you. It takes a long time to come to terms with a disease, especially a terminal illness. And then you start thinking, "Okay, this is the new me, this is the new normal, and I can still appreciate every moment."
