ELMA — Music, classic cars, numerous raffles and delicious food offerings will highlight the 78th annual summer picnic at the Church of the Annunciation, 7580 Clinton St. The event kicks off on Friday, Aug. 14, and concludes with a grand drawing the evening of Sunday, Aug. 16.
The fun begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, with a delicious fish fry, a Classic Car Cruise Night from 6 to 9 p.m., and music by the Boys of Summer from 7 to 11 p.m.
Activities on Saturday, Aug. 15, will begins at 1 p.m. and will include a pork chop dinner at 4 p.m. and musical entertainment by LeeRon Zydeco & the Hot Tamales from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by Hit 'n Run from 7 to 11 p.m. Parish volunteers will also be serving Annunciation's famous clam chowder throughout the day.
A Polish Polka Mass at 11:30 a.m., will feature John Stanczyk & Rare Vintage, on Sunday, Aug. 16. Sunday's menu will include a chicken barbecue beginning at noon and another opportunity to sample Annunciation's famous chowder. Dan McPartlan's Other Band will play from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., followed by the annual visit of Lenny Gomulka & Chicago Push from 4 to 8 p.m.
Annunciation's picnic will also include cash raffles as well as opportunities to win a 24-month Ford Focus car lease or an amazing vacation package. Other highlights include kids' activities and a family tent, theme baskets, games of chance, a food court, the raffle of a handcrafted Amish quilt, and a beautifully handcrafted wooden rocking horse and glider, courtesy of Annunciation's St. Joseph Workers.
