ATHOL SPRINGS — The Summer Enrichment Program at St. Francis High School gives students the opportunity to develop intellectually and creatively while having fun in the summer.
Each morning, all students participate in four 50-minute enrichment classes. Classes differ each week and range from art, including tie-dye T-shirts; science; math, which will include interactive math games; and technology, which will include animated presentations and flash game creation.
In the afternoons, students choose between traditional sports or interactive activities. Interactive Explorer Activities may include backyard scrabble, water rocket creation, kite making, a nature scavenger hunt and more.
Soccer will be offered during session one from July 11 to 15. Basketball or lacrosse will be offered during session two from July 18 to 22, and Hockey at the Harbor Center will be offered during session three from July 22 to 29 with an additional $50 fee for ice time. Every Friday students will go on a field trip and pick up will be at noon. A different field trip will be offered each week. A $25 deposit is required to reserve a spot.
Students entering eighth-grade in the fall of 2016 can take advantage of the Red Raider Success Pack. For $200, the package includes one week of the SEP (additional week(s) available for just $100 per week), an entrance exam prep class on four Saturday's leading up to the exam, and the entrance exam and testing fee. St. Francis High School will host its second annual Red Raider Basketball Camp from Aug. 1 to 5. Each day will consist of different drills for each day in each of the following categories: shooting, ball handling, passing and catching, one-on-one play, footwork, eligibility, defensive stance and rebounding. Friendly competition and "Player of the Day" prizes will be awarded. The camp will provide a St. Francis reversible practice jersey, a custom St. Francis basketball and a pizza party on the last day of camp. Registration is easy and is available online. Register by Wednesday, July 27.
