St. Vincent de Paul Summer Camp in Angola on the Lake is having its first ever reunion on Saturday, Aug. 6. This fun event will be a celebration of many years of camp life that brought much joy to campers of all faiths.
The festivities are open to former campers and staff and will begin with a 4 p.m. Mass celebrated by honorary chairman Father Mark Wolski. He was a camp chaplain and still remembers some of the camp stories and songs.
Mass will be followed by a hot dog picnic in the camp dining hall with time for attendees to reminisce about camp life. Families are invited to use the playgrounds, pool and beach volleyball courts. The camp also has a new rope bridge, which should draw youngsters' attention.
St. Vincent de Paul Camp is on the shores of Lake Erie where campers enjoy stone-skipping contests and beautiful sunsets. The evening will end with an ice cream social and the wonderful tradition of a campfire sing-along.
The reunion committee includes Ray Wassinger, current camp director, and former directors Phil Coyle and Jim Fix.
