The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will close its store at 1919 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, effective at the close of business, Saturday, Oct. 15.  The store provides reconditioned clothing, household goods and small appliances at little or no cost to those in need.

"Our current store is too small to offer furniture, which is in demand by those the Society serves," said society CEO and Executive Director Mark Zirnheld.  "It is essential that we move to a larger location in the Falls to better meet their needs."

The current store, which opened in 2013, has grown in popularity, but has limited hours of operation.  Zirnheld said the Society is actively looking for a new larger location that will allow for the addition of a furniture, mattress and appliance showroom, easy access for customers and volunteers with ample parking.

The Society has been looking for the past six months for such a spot and hopes to find its new location and reopen there in 2017. Vincent's Discount Store, operated by the society in Buffalo at 1298 Main St., continues to be open to handle customers.

Since 1930, the society has been answering the need of the poor by providing donated clothing, furniture and household items.
