The Society of Our Lady of Divine Mercy will be making its sixth bus pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, Mass. from Oct. 4-6 for St. Faustina Day. The purpose of this pilgrimage is to spread the Divine Mercy Devotion and to create fellowship among Catholics and non-Catholics. With the fall colors starting to change, pilgrims will be able to pray and worship in a retreat type setting on the beautiful grounds of the Berkshire Mountains. Here the Marians of the Immaculate Conception Fathers will invite pilgrims to learn about the Divine Mercy Devotion and have them participate in God's mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the reception of the Holy Eucharist at Mass. Mass will be held at the Mother of Mercy Outdoor Shrine. A guest speaker will preceed Mass. The speaker will cover Divine Mercy related topics. Afterward pilgrims will be able to have their "paper bag lunch" in a tented picnic area.
Confessions are heard at the Outdoor Mother of Mercy Shrine, along with the praying of the Holy Rosary for Life at 1 p.m. Mass will be celebrated and the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be held before and after Mass at 2 p.m. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will be prayed at 3 p.m.
After the devotions, pilgrims can visit the beautiful white stone church with magnificent wood carvings and the first class relic of St. Faustina.
Prayer at the following Shrines; Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto and the Holy Innocents Shrine. There are smaller shrines where one can pray such as, the newly renovated St. Joseph Shrine, and the Mother of Mercy Oratory which houses the Blessed Sacrament in the Marian Helpers Center. While lighting a candle, one can also enjoy the beautiful stain glass windows of the Works of Mercy then visit the Divine Mercy Gift Shop which sells many unique items. Larger than life Stations of the Cross can be visited in a semi-wooded area by the church.
While there is no charge for this pilgrimage, participants are asked to bake and sell for four fundraisers to be held April 7 and 8 at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Hamburg and April 14 and 15 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Tonawanda,
A Divine Mercy concert will take place at 7 p.m., April 27 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Tonawanda.
