St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 800 Niagara Falls Blvd, North Tonawanda, will be the site of the Rosary Novena for Life on Saturday, May 26, at 5 p.m. Father James Kirkpatrick, pastor, will be the main celebrant.
After Mass, there will be a presentation from the Knights of Columbus, Madonna Council of Tonawanda, Grand Knight Paul Hempel, along with Wyoming Council, Grand Knight, Jim Horner, of funds collected to purchase a handheld sonogram machine. This handheld ultrasound device will be able to show expectant mothers an ultrasound image of their babies as early as seven weeks in gestation.
The Knights of Columbus have been instrumental in helping support life from the moment of conception. In September, the Diocese of Buffalo announced that the Knights of Columbus Council #12829 Christ the King of Aurora had donated almost $16,000 to purchase two handheld ultrasound machines. The Knights of Columbus have set a national goal for placing 1,000 ultrasound machines in pro-life clinics throughout the United States and locally is working with Catholic Health and the diocese to do so.
Following the presentation of the check, the rosary will be prayed.
"With the new Marian feast day named on Monday, May 21, as "Mary, Mother of the Church," what better way to honor all mothers with this blessing of a window to the womb," said Cheryl Calire, director of Pro-Life Activities for the Diocese of Buffalo.
