Sister Mary Lintner, SSJ, a teacher and school psychologist, died July 15, 2018, at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, Clarence, after an extended illness. She was 94.
Born July 15, 1924, to John and Jessie Lintner in Hawley, Pa., she worked in New York theater for several years before entering the Sisters of St. Joseph in September 1949. She pronounced her final vows in August 1955.
After earning degrees in education from Mount St. Joseph Teachers College, Sister served for 11 years in the college's Reading Clinic. She subsequently taught at, was guidance counselor and assistant principal at Mount St. Joseph Academy in Buffalo.
Sister received certification as a school psychologist through John Carroll University in Cleveland in 1978 and practiced in the Cleveland public school system until 1983.
She moved to the sisters' residence in Clarence in 1983 where she served as an aide.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered July 18 at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence in Clarence.
