St. Leo the Great Church presents "Let's Talk About ... Keeping the Faith in Crisis and Suffering"

Thu, Feb 28th 2019 11:00 am

When crisis hits, how do you hold on? What role does faith play when suffering? This Lent, come to the parish center for a fish fry from 5-7 p.m., enter the main church to pray the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. and stay to hear panelists share, from their own experience, the role of faith in times of crisis and suffering.

Join St. Leo the Great Parish on Friday, March 29 at 7 p.m. for the second in a series of "Let's Talk About ..." discussions on topics relevant to the Catholic Church today. The "Future of the Catholic Church" was held last June, and this Lent we will continue a dialogue by talking about "Keeping the Faith in Crisis & Suffering." Panelists include Father Roy Herberger, who was recently exonerated from false accusations of sexual misconduct, Catholic Charities Victims Assistance Coordinator Jaqueline Joy, LCSW, and Jean O'Brien, a mother of eight who is currently battling cancer with her Catholic faith.

Msgr. Robert E. Zapfel, STD, pastor of St. Leo the Great Parish, 885 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, will moderate the panel discussion. "Given the heavy climate in our diocese today, we hope to hear and discuss how we can endure suffering as Catholics. A dialogue through a question and answer period following the presentations will encourage participation from everyone interested not only how to spiritually cope in times of trial, but how to stay Catholic while the Church is in crisis. This Lent, as we enter into the desert, pray with us, listen with us, learn with us." This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will follow. Free childcare is available upon reservation by March 22.
