In the midst of what our church is going through in the world and everything we are going through in our own diocese lately, I believe that we can all say today, more than ever, we need a Revival. God is ready to do something in this moment of uncertainty for many Christians. This is a moment for spiritual reconstruction. It is a time of much prayer and to be reminded that the Lord knows what to do with all that is happening and that the Lord is taking care of us and will continue to take care of us. Let's keep our faith alive.
The African-American Commission is working together with the Office of Cultural Diversity to sponsor a three-day Revival, Oct. 14, 15 and 16, at St. Martin de Porres Parish beginning each night at 6 p.m. The choir from St. Martin de Porres will praise God in song on Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, SS. Columba-Brigid Choir will lead the music on Youth Night. Although we call it youth night everyone is welcome to join them.
Our guest revivalist is coming from the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Father Roy A. Lee, Ph.D. Father Lee was ordained for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He has had a very electric, challenging and distinguished pastoral ministry as lecturer, educator, counselor, revivalist, retreat master, homilist and chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. Father Lee is coming as an electrifying revivalist to give us some insight as well as hope about this moment of time in which God is ready to do some great work. He said, "Remember, some of God's best work has been done in the midnight hour. That midnight hour brings us to the resurrection. We call it Easter Sunday morning."
Each night he will touch on the topics of the theme. The first night, he will preach on the theme of Revive using the Gospel, Luke 11:29-32, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given, except the sign of Jonah." The second night he will preach on Refresh using the Gospel, Luke 11:37-41 "Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you." The last night the theme will be Renew using the Gospel Luke 11:42-46, "Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God."
Father Lee is a great preacher and I am looking forward to the message the Holy Spirit is going to send us through Father Lee. You won't want to miss it! Please join us and pray for the Revival.
