Delta Development manages properities for Catholic Charities, diocese

In its work with the Western New York community, Catholic Charities is known for ministering to the poor, elderly and people with disabilities. Another facet of its ministry is Delta Development of Western New York Inc., a not-for-profit development company founded in 1988 through the ministry of Catholic Charities and the Diocese of Buffalo, to provide comfortable housing at an affordable price.
First-grader helps to collect art supplies for children at Roswell

A first-grader at Notre Dame Academy in Buffalo recently spearheaded a collection to provide entertainment for and put smiles on faces of children undergoing treatment at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Grace Mallaber organized a collection of 20 boxes of art supplies to be donated to the hospital's pediatric wing.
Catholic Charities receives $100,000 grant from John R. Oishei Foundation

Catholic Charities of Buffalo has received a two-year, $200,000 grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation to assist its Immigration and Refugee Assistance Program (IRAP) in establishing a multidisciplinary health care clinic to serve new arrivals at its campus on Buffalo's West Side.

Catholic Charities 2015 appeal tops $10.5 million

With only seven weeks remaining before the close of the 2015 Appeal in support of Catholic Charities of Buffalo, the annual campaign has raised $10,532,335.48 in cash and pledges, representing 96.6 percent of its $10.9 million goal. Appeal leaders are asking the community for their help in raising the remaining $367,663.52 still needed to reach the final goal by June 30.

Catholic Charities Appeal hits $10 million

BUFFALO - Less than one month after Appeal Week 2015 ended and less than two weeks after announcing this year's campaign surpassed $9.5 million, Catholic Charities of Buffalo today announced another milestone, reporting the organization has raised $10,096,782.40 in cash and pledges, representing 93 percent of the goal. As a result, volunteers for the annual Appeal must raise $900,000 more to reach this year's $10.9 million goal.

Baker Victory Services breaks ground on new facility

LACKAWANNA, NY (April 21, 2015) - Bishop Richard J. Malone joined Baker Victory Services (BVS) President Msgr. Paul J.E. Burkard and Chief Executive Officer Terese M. Scofidio to break ground and officially begin construction on a new $16 million residential treatment facility on the BVS Martin Road Campus in Lackawanna. The latest development in the continuing evolution of programs begun by Father Nelson Baker, the new state-of-the-art facility is designed to replace cottages that were built in the 1950's and 60's, currently home to residents in the BVS RTF programs.
Catholic Charities reaches nearly 80 percent of goal

At the close of Appeal Week 2015, Catholic Charities announced March 31, that 78.4 percent of their goal has been met. Donations will be accepted until the close of the fiscal year June 30. This year's goal is $10.9 million.

Food pantry is collaboration of Catholic Charities, Temple Beth Zion

Catholic Charities and Temple Beth Zion have joined in a collaborative effort to open a new food pantry to serve Getzville and Williamsville residents. Town Square Food Pantry is located at the Town Square for Aging on the Weinberg Campus, 2710 North Forest Road, Getzville. The site will serve eligible residents of ZIP codes 14068 and 14221.
Appeal Week opens with $7.43 million raised for Catholic Charities

Bishop Richard J. Malone announced Tuesday Catholic Charities' 91st annual Appeal has raised $7,432,587.16 to date, representing 68 percent of the $10.9 million goal. The total includes monies collected and reported by parish volunteers during the opening weekend (March 21-22) of Appeal Week 2015, the period which marks the strongest push for parish donations. The total reported is more than $500,000 short of where Catholic Charities' officials and the Appeal leadership team hoped to be after the first Sunday.

Catholic Charities and Bishop Richard J. Malone have officially begun Catholic Charities' 2015 appeal, with a $10.9 million goal and a theme of "Find Good Within." The announcement was made at a press conference Jan. 7 at Catholic Charities' A Gathering Place, an outreach program for seniors. The appeal funds 70 programs Catholic Charities runs in 61 sites throughout the eight counties of the diocese.

Local missionaries to help children in Ghana

The sister of a diocesan priest and an incoming college student will travel to West Africa in November to assist the Marian Sisters of Eucharistic Love to serve children at an orphanage in Ghana. Under the careful guidance of Sister Stan Terese Mario Mumuni, MASEL, a native of Africa who has been a missionary for over 16 years, they will help children who would not otherwise have had a chance at life.

Refugee experiences shown on the nightly news may be painful, yet distant. Refugees arrive in Western New York legally, approved by the Department of State and supported by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
