Sister Rose Perry died May 18, 2015, in the Stella Niagara Health Center in Lewiston, at the age of 88.

She was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Buffalo, the daughter of Edward and Anne (McMahon) Perry. She joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity in Stella Niagara in 1944 and professed vows in 1946.

In 1960, Sister Rose received a bachelor's degree in education from Mount St. Joseph Teachers College, now Medaille College, in Buffalo.

Sister Rose's teaching ministry began at St. Benedict School in Buffalo, after which she taught at St. Lawrence, also in Buffalo. Other schools where she taught included St. Agnes in Atlantic Highlands, N.J., St. Mary in New Monmouth, N.J., St. John and Holy Rosary in Columbus, Ohio and Sacred Heart in Charleston, W.Va. Outside of the United States, Sister Rose taught at St. Francis International School in Rome.

Sister Rose's last teaching ministry was at Stella Niagara School. She retired in 1995, after which she served as a receptionist in the order's provincial administration office in Stella Niagara. In 2001, she became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center, where she remained until her death.

She is survived by sisters Sister Frances Clare, OSF, of Stella Niagara, Patricia Hinterberger and Anna Perry, sisters-in-law Norma (Kirst) Perry and Mary Ann (Suchan) Perry of Buffalo and their families.

A funeral Mass was held in the Sisters' Chapel in Stella Niagara, with burial in Stella Niagara Cemetery.
