Sister Anthony Clare Reiman died Nov. 6, 2015, in the St. Clare Community of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany. She was 87 years old.
The former Claire Cecilia Reiman was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Paterson, N.J., to Albert and Minnie (Monti) Reiman. She joined the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany in 1951, professed final vows in 1958 and received a bachelor's degree in education from St. Bonaventure University in 1971.
Sister Anthony Clare taught in Lakeland, Fla., before serving at schools in New York and New Jersey. After serving as a librarian at St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip on Long Island, she pursued graduate studies at Rosary College in Illinois and St. Cloud State College in Minnesota.
After she received a master's degree in library science in 1974, she briefly taught before returning to the St. John the Baptist library, where she served as a librarian, audiovisual coordinator and media specialist until her retirement in 2002. She returned to St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in 2007 and assisted with the order's archives on a full-time and part-time basis until 2012.
Sister Anthony Clare is survived by two sisters, Eileen Saveriano and Rosalie Tarricone; nieces, nephews and their families.
A funeral Mass was held in the chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, after which Sister Anthony Clare was buried in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, also in Allegany.
