Father Allen H. Weber, a former professor at St. Bonaventure University, died on Christmas Day 2015 at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey at age 75.
Father Weber was born May 22, 1940, in Wood-Ridge, N.J. He received a bachelor's degree in classical languages and philosophy from Seton Hall University in New Jersey and a bachelor of sacred theology degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1965.
He was ordained to the priesthood on May 29, 1965, and received a master's degree in religious education from Fordham University in 1975. In 1979, he went on to receive a second master's degree in school and community psychology from Seton Hall University. He made his solemn Franciscan profession on June 21, 1986.
Father Weber received a Ph.D. in counseling from the Catholic University of America in 1990, after which he served at St. Bonaventure University as an assistant and associate professor until 2014. That year, he was assigned to serve at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Wood-Ridge as parochial vicar. He also served as a spiritual assistant to secular Franciscans at St. Anne Parish in Fairlawn, N.J.
He is survived by a brother, John (Barbara) Weber; nieces and nephews Aaron (Michele), Kellin, Brianna, Ciara, Lara (Kevin) and Ryan; and a cousin, Patrick Appello.
A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Assumption, with a memorial service also held at the St. Bonaventure University Chapel in Doyle Hall. He was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, N.J.
