Sister Mary Saletinia Kaczor, CSSF, died Sept. 24, 2017, in the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center in Cheektowaga. She was 92.
The former Lucille Kaczor was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Salamanca, to Maximilian and Mary (Boza) Kaczor. She joined the Felician Sisters in 1942 and professed perpetual vows in 1950.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from Mount St. Joseph Teachers' College, now Medaille College in Buffalo, and a master's degree, also in education, from Buffalo State College.
Early in her ministry, Sister Saletinia taught for 12 years at St. Stanislaus Kostka Day Care Center in Toronto. For 36 years, she taught at schools in the Diocese of Buffalo, later serving as principal of St. Barbara School in Lackawanna and Genesee-Wyoming Consolidated Catholic School in Attica. Outside of the diocese, she taught and served as a school principal in Binghamton.
In 1995, Sister Saletinia began serving as a maintenance supervisor and coordinator at Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo. In 1997, she began serving as a kitchen assistant at the nearby Immaculate Heart of Mary Provincial House. She became devoted to prayer ministry in 2013 and celebrated her 75th anniversary in religious life in May 2017.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary Onisk, Helen Napierala and Theresa Frye; a brother, Thomas Kaczor, and her siblings' families.
A funeral Mass was held in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Chapel in Cheektowaga.
