Sister Elena M. Sinatra, SSHJ, died Feb. 7, 2018, at the age of 83.

She was born in Caltagirone, Italy on March 16, 1934 to Franceso and Maria (Benenati) Sinatra.

She first joined the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1953, professing her final vows two years later in Italy. She served as a nursery school teacher for 10 years before coming to Lewiston. Once there, Sister Elena attended Niagara University and became a kindergarten teacher at Sacred Heart Villa School in Lewiston. She taught for 52 years. She also served as a Eucharistic minister.

Sister Elena is survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy.

A funeral Mass will be held Feb. 17 at Sacred Heart Villa. Burial will take place at Gate of heaven Cemetery.
