Catholic cooking program includes 'sin' on this month's menu

On Saturday, June 9, at 6:30 a.m. and noon, Father Paul D. Seil, host of "Our Daily Bread," will talk about sin on the monthly cooking show. Produced by Daybreak TV Productions of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, "Our Daily Bread" airs on WKBW-TV Channel 7.
Four men to be ordained to priesthood, livestream available

Bishop Richard J. Malone will have the honor of ordaining four men to the priesthood on Saturday, June 2. The special Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St., Buffalo. Daybreak TV Productions, the television entity of the Diocese of Buffalo, will provide a livestream and replay of the ordination which can be viewed or shared on their YouTube channel @DaybreakTV.

This May on "Our Daily Bread," host Father Paul D. Seil will be taking the show on the road, as he heads to Camp Turner in Salamanca. Camp Turner is a summer and winter residential camp operated by the Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministry of the Diocese of Buffalo. The camp is located inside Allegany State Park about 90 minutes from downtown Buffalo.

His upbeat delivery draws you in as you listen to his powerful reflections. "The goal of this new series is to offer a message on social media that gives viewers something to think about, something to live by, and though it is produced with young people in mind we see Faith Formation instructors, parents and teachers interested and responding as well," says Daybreak TV Productions Executive Producer Claire Rung.

In its role in serving the Catholic Church in Buffalo, Daybreak TV Productions, part of the Office of Communications' job is to ensure it distributes not just entertainment, but accurate information about the Catholic faith to audiences. Since videographers, producers and others in the field of communications are laypeople and usually not as well versed in theology as clergy and men and women religious, this has led to collaboration between Daybreak staff and other departments in the Catholic Center.

In the diocesan Office of Communications, a variety of individuals with talents in the fields of writing, editing, copyediting and videography work together to produce Catholic media for Western New York and the rest of the United States. For Daybreak TV Productions, part of the office, one individual who makes things happen every day as a jack-of-all-trades is Ann Przybylski, whose official title is that of administrative assistant and bookkeeper, but her actual job behind the TV scenes consists of much more than this.

If you have ever turned on the television to see one of Buffalo's priests celebrating Mass, you can thank the crew of Daybreak TV Productions. The video-producing arm of the Diocese of Buffalo records over 300 liturgical celebrations every year at the Our Lady Chapel of St. Joseph Cathedral, just a couple of miles from their downtown Buffalo studios.

The Teaching and Restoring Youth program, or TRY program, has been serving young women in Buffalo since 1997. TRY offers a safe, structured environment to women between the ages of 16 and 21 who are homeless and who have suffered abuse, violence and victimization. The TRY program provides access to education, health care, counseling and job training.
