Father George E. Maj, a Pallottine priest for 60 years, died June 24, 2018, at the age of 86.
Born July 1, 1931 in Poland, he entered the Pallottine community in 1951 and was ordained in 1958.
He came to the United States in 1971 to serve at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Buffalo and St., George Parish in Niagara Falls. In 1981, Father Maj became an Army chaplain, serving in Dayton, Ohio and Canandaigua. After his retirement, he continued to assist Resurrection Parish in Cheektowaga. From 2005 to 2008, Father Maj served as superior of the Pallottine Community in North Tonawanda, while also serving as administrator of St. Florian Parish in Buffalo.
He is predeceased by parents Stanislaw and Wladyslawa Maj. He is survived by a sister, Barbara in Poland.
A funeral Mass will be held at the Infant of Jesus Shrine, North Tonawanda, June 28 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Buffalo.
